Shea Butter -Hair & Skin Moisture Booster

Mar 04, 2022

Shea Butter is the fat extracted from the kernels of the shea tree, which is native to Sub-Saharan Africa. It has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries. Its high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids – combined with its easy to spread consistency – makes it a great product for smoothing, soothing and conditioning your skin.

Umoyo’s Organic Shea Butter is hand crafted using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations of rural women in northern Ghana. It is unrefined and carefully prepared in order to maintain all beneficial nutrients and hence is also free of preservatives and synthetic substances.

Here are some of the amazing skin & hair benefits that come with using our organic, unrefined shea butter.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-OXIDANT

Umoyo’s Shea Butter contains anti-inflammatory properties that help to heal common inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema. It also has anti-oxidant properties, which prevent wrinkles and accelerated aging caused by free radical damage.

With regards to your hair, these anti-inflammatory & anti-oxidant properties help reduce scalp irritations, fight dandruff and protect the scalp from UV sun damage.

ACNE BREAKOUTS

Shea butter has antibacterial properties that combat acne-causing bacteria. In addition, it helps moisturize the skin, which is essential if you want to prevent acne. The reason is because dry skin tends to produce more sebum that in turn tends to clog pores, which then makes you more prone to acne breakouts.

HEALING OF SCARS, BLEMISHES & STRETCH MARKS

Shea butter has scar-healing properties. Its rich fatty acid profile helps soften tissue, which is beneficial in speeding up skin healing and diminishing scars. It also prevents keloid fibroblasts (scar tissue) from reproducing while encouraging healthy cell growth to take their place.

In addition, Shea Butter helps treat hyperpigmentation, a common condition in which patches of skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin. This darkening occurs when excess melanin (the brown pigment that produces normal skin color) forms deposits in the skin. Studies have shown that Shea Butter can be more effective than store-bought moisturizers / fade creams, as it’s a natural alternative to hydroquinone, a chemical used in most of the creams intended to help treat the condition. Remember, hyperpigmentation can affect the skin color of people of any race. Regular application of Shea Butter can help you regain a smooth, even, skin tone.

SKIN & HAIR MOISTURE BOOSTER

As discussed above, Shea Butter contains a lot of fatty acids that soften and hydrate the skin. The fatty acids improve the skin’s natural barrier and these include linoleic, oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids.

In hair, Shea Butter prevents split ends and frizz caused by dryness, while giving your hair a beautiful shine. Shea Butter also protects the skin and hair from damage by environmental pollutants.

PROTECTION FROM SUNLIGHT RADIATION.

Shea Butter also has some mild sun protection benefits for both skin and hair. Using Shea Butter on your skin does give you some added sun protection, although its capacity to absorb ultraviolet radiation from the sun is limited since it only has a natural SPF of about 6-10. It is therefore advised not to use it on its own as an effective sunscreen, but it can be layered over your favorite sunscreen when you're out in the sun. If you do burn yourself, then Shea Butter helps reduce redness due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Shea Butter is also great for hydrating & moisturizing both skin & hair that has become dry from too much sun exposure.

Umoyo’s Organic Unrefined Shea Butter has excellent properties designed to take care of you from head to toe. Another great property is that it is easily absorbed into the skin and scalp without making them greasy. Say goodbye to all your skin and hair problems and make this magical product a part of your daily routine.
